"I'm constantly asking myself; how can I make this more personal?"
- Josette Eales
Josette is creator-hybrid, originally from South Africa she now lives in Los Angeles.
An award winning writer, director and actor. Eales came up in the theatre; founding her own production company with the intent to create more opportunities for female writers and directors.
She built a theatre in downtown Johannesburg 'PopArt' which plays host to some of South Africa's most cutting edge theatre works to this day.
After a successful career in theatre and television (as a series regular on a hit show) she moved to Los Angeles where she continues writing and making her own content.
Most recently; her Short film 'A Shame' received awards at Mammoth Film Festival and The Best Shorts competition. It was also an official selection at the Female Voice Rock Film Festival, Bridgeport Film Fest and Pasadena International Film Festival. Eales herself was selected to take part in the Her Voice Mentorship Program.
Her script 'Desert Bird' won the Vision Fest screenwriting competition and Eales is attached to direct with Matt Flanders (Ted K, Goldbricks in Bloom) producing.
Spier Films in the UK currently has an option for her screenplay 'Island of Silence' a drama set in the 1800s on Robben Island off the coast of South Africa.
Last year Eales was hired by Gary Levinsohn's company H2L media to write a script based on the real life story of the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island; the project is currently being developed.
